Abstract: The creation of a teaching tool representing several aspects of today's vocal repertoire is the primary motivation for the present collection. In fact, bringing together a few generations of composers, these Vocals of / for Today mark out a path, both initiatory and modestly historical, of a repertoire called "contemporary music" or, more recently, "music of today". Posterity will perhaps call it differently, with the benefit of hindsight on a musical journey that is as rich as it is diverse. In the pieces presented here, the exercise of the sung voice, through varied sound atmospheres, combines with diverse forms of parlato, which, from recitar cantando to the Sprechgesang of a "Viennese" rap, crosses numerous vocal repertoires, all styles taken into account, and encourages the search for bold and varied production.
