Abstract: This volume contains the famous sets of Long Tone Studies that Vincent Cichowicz used with his many outstanding students at Northwestern University. Also showcased in the book is his 1996 article from the Instrumentalist magazine, “Teaching Concepts of Trumpet Playing”, forewords by Charles Geyer and Barbara Butler commentaries from over a dozen former students. This volume also features Tom Rolfs, Principal Trumpet with the Boston Symphony Orchestra performing all of the VC 1 exercises on a digital download located on the Studio 259 website.

Abstract: Questo libro è ormai un classico della letteratura musicale jazzistica e il suo autore, Jamey Aebersold, portatore di un nuovo approccio musicale pragmatico, ha influenzato e condizionato visibilmente la didattica musicale statunitense. La filosofia alla base di questo libro è che la musica è alla portata di tutti, è uno strumento espressivo e comunicativo magnifico, che richiede sì studio teorico, dedizione e disciplina, ma è già nel cuore di ciascuno. Tecnica e studio, quindi, servono per il suo risveglio in noi. Seguendo questo libro lo studente sarà in grado di iniziare a suonare e improvvisare da subito, facendolo con più consapevolezza e in maniera più personale. EDITORIALE

Abstract: Per ampliare i propri orizzonti blues, in tutte le tonalità, con melodie, accordi e parti trasposti per tutti gli strumenti. Come dice Jamey Aebersold: «la musica non deve attraversarci passivamente, senza avere coscienza di dove ci si trova e dove si sta andando in rapporto alla struttura armonica del brano. Il Blues è il denominatore comune nel jazz ma purtroppo spesso il suo studio viene trattato superficialmente riducendo l'improvvisazione all'uso di un paio di scale, quella blues e quella pentatonica. Con un po' d'attenzione si può diventare abili nell'uso di una varietà di scale e dei relativi sound durante l'esecuzione di un blues.» EDITORIALE

Abstract: Aree Intervallari traccia una nuova e originalissima strada nell'ambito dell'improvvisazione e composizione jazz. Ma per il musicista che ha già dimestichezza con la pratica improvvisativa e familiarità con l'armonia e il sistema modale […] questo metodo si innesterà in quella conoscenza. Teoria frutto di quarant'anni di ricerche, Aree Intervallari è al contempo un procedimento squisitamente pratico e pragmatico.

Abstract: As a continuation of the new Urtext edition of the Schubert lieder, Walther Dürr has now edited volume five for high, medium and low voices. Volumes 1 to 4 of this edition contain mainly lieder which Schubert himself saw into print (in his own choice and order) and in the fourth volume works from the last two years of his life are included. The lieder in volume 5 onwards are strictly presented in the order of Deutsch’s Thematic Catalogue which means that in principle they are arranged chronologically. The lieder in volume five were composed in the years 1811 to 1814. The first - "Hagars Klage" (D 5), dated 30 March 1811 - is also his first complete surviving song. The first eleven lieder are evidence of his early studies (1811-1813/14). During this period Schubert immersed himself in Johann Rudolf Zumsteeg's ballads and lieder and wrote Italian arias during his composition lessons with Antonio Salieri. He also composed a single strophic song ("Klaglied", D 23), which - the only one of these songs - was published shortly after his death in November 1830 as op. 131, 3. His apprentice work, as it were, was the major ballade "Der Taucher" (D 77) which was composed between 1813 and roughly the beginning of 1815. Probably not by chance, his first complete opera ("Des Teufels Lustschloss", D 84) was written at the same time. Abstract: Un testo sul blues nelle sue diverse forme, da quella base sino all'esplorazione di forme armoniche più elaborate. Si troveranno: due blues lenti in G e F, due in tempo moderato-veloce in Bb e F, un blues minore in C e uno in 6/8 in C minore, un blues in C in tempo moderato, tre rock-blues ed un blues che usa sostituzioni di accordi in F. Il cd offre una sezione ritmica a quanti non abbiano mai avuto l'opportunità di suonare con piano, basso e batteria e un accompagnamento autentico a quei musicisti che non sempre ne hanno uno a disposizione.

Abstract: This edition contains a selection of the easiest piano pieces and dances by Maurice Ravel. Piano music occupies an important place in his output and often contains dance-like elements. Fortunately Ravel, although a virtuoso pianist, also wrote easier music for the instrument. Alongside famous works such as the “Pavane pour une Infante défunte”, this selection contains less well-known works and will encourage pianists to make new discoveries. The inclusion of fingering makes it a truly practical performing edition. This is a varied unusual addition to the piano teaching literature with short invaluable information on the works and a well presented music layout. EDITORIALE
